Born in Pittsburgh, PA, a graduate from American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles and now resides in Brooklyn, NY. Monique started her journey as an actor. However throughout her life writing short stories and journaling was a catharsis for her. It was after her comedy feature SBF: Single Black Female was a semi-finalist in the Writers On The Storm screenwriting contest, that Monique's focus shifted. Encouraged that she was on the right path. She focused on honing her craft and joined a screenwriting/TV writing group.
Monique was hired by Scorpio Pictures to write a children's television project with a fellow friend and writer. Her spec script VEEP was a quarter finalist in the 2014 Scriptapalooza TV contest. She is a recent member of NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television). Also co-founder of Empire Screenwriters Lab http://empirescreenlab.wix.com/group, which provides a space for NY-based writers to share and critique their work.
Using humor to create inclusive and universal stories that reflect our multicultural society, is what Monique strives to accomplish with her scripts.
