About Constance

Constance York has been creating stories her whole life.
Living in the Detroit area, provided a lifetime of drama material.

After working other careers (material and character hunting), and raising two children as a single mom, she returned to college with the goal of becoming a better writer.

She graduated from the University of Michigan after studying screenwriting, theater, documentary film, memoir writing and print journalism.

She interned for a local newspaper and began freelancing for them where she did photography and wrote feature stories.

But her love for screenplays and desire to see her stories on the big screen, continued to motivate her to write screenplays.

As of 2018, she has finished 17 feature length screenplays, two shorts, two series, two novels and numerous published articles.

She also produced three documentaries which have over 800,000 views on Youtube.

Her screenplay BURNED made it to the 2nd Round of the Austin Film Festival in 2010 on a first draft in 2010.

Two of her more recent screenplays were in the top 20% of the 2018 Nicholl Fellowships.

Her screenplays are dramas- often dark, but laced with humor. They very often have female leads and minority characters who deal with important social and moral issues and reveal human nature in ways that aren't always obvious.
