So, I resigned from my 9 to 5 job, because I wasn't happy and I felt like they were using my creativity, (It was pressured I would call it) for 2 years, It kept me from writing scripts, shooting my films, and focusing on my Media Agency/Production. Now that I left that company, I want to focus on these and also on my business, Any advice?

Honestly, as someone who has started out too, while I absolutely congratulate you on your new business, personally I found the first few years of being solo and running a whole company and bearing all the costs and risks (particularly financial) of that actually impacted on my creativity hugely, and created more blocks than flow. But, I know exactly what you mean by needing to get out of the 9-5pm drain that is working for others where there is contention about what your abilities production and role are worth.
Since you've just now started, I'd maybe tackle that first? You cant go on forever with earning less than you're worth, but for a couple of years at least I suspect in financial terms that is going to happen no matter what. So focus on your goal (and maybe get a small part time job if you can that at least covers the lifestyle change and keeps you well enough to stop financial blocks but isnt taking up your key creative time and negatively blocking your flow). Only you know what your scheduling for that - where your honest creative peaks and troughs and which days are more suitable for certain parts of your process.
One thing I've found is that it's been a spiritual journey of sorts; and I wish I'd done my first three years very differently in some ways.
From what little I have read of your words, my impression of your 'dream statement' is a form of bringing your awareness and self-discovery of what it means to be you in your cultural context at this time. Is that a true and fair interpretation of what you'd class as your vision? And who are you talking to in your mind, who do you want to reach?
Get those two things right and everything will flow I suspect.
I'd love to see you come back on here in a day, a week, a month, three months, six months, a year, two years... and every time you're back a really specific, measurable, achievable and realistic goal has been achieved but without excessive planning getting in your way.
My gut tells me what you have to say matters; you've said you want to show that, in a Jamaican style, you can produce any genre on an international stage. That's exciting... for your first project what specific genre do you feel is right, but will equally get you exposure that you need?
Do you have one image that encapsulates it? I'd love to see that.
Looking forward to following you!

Just had a look at Arlington International Film Festival and checking my planner for what I can attend! Congratulations to you on adapting so readily to online, I am really looking forward to coming alongside in support; I hadn't anticipated being able to attend as I will be in Scotland for November but fingers crossed I can join in now instead.

I've got an increasing collection of graphic novels so am guessing this one is yours? https://www.amazon.com/Marx-Tale-Neglect-Onrie-Kompan/dp/1945604255
Will order - am in lockdown back home in Scotland just now back to travel soon I hope so fingers crossed it arrives across the Atlantic in time! Have you animation/blended storytelling plans for it? Some fantastic and timely narrative threads to weave!
Enjoy Stage32 - it's a fantastic platform!

At this point, my partner and I have done a lot of the leg work already and are now looking to get right into the pitching room and talk to producers who are committed and ready to make things happen. We have the sales and mailing lists to back it up. We just need the right person in Hollywood to help us get it to the next level.
Any advice on that front?

Expand commentWell I can only make informed guesses about your status of production and the trajectory to want so forgive me if I go the wrong way but.... your novel's aesthetic and topic to me scream 'Netflix'with a strong identity of genre and intended likely audience. The work I've done in connection to any Netflix projects indicate to me that you'd need a solicited submission through a licensed literary agent, or someone they have a preexisting relationship with and particularly a specialist in that field. The paod pitch opportunities that run on Stage32 could work very well for you. If it was me and my love-project rather than purely business, I'd probably make an animated treatment - maybe 10-20seconds - and build a concurrent audience externally eg specialist mailing lists and invited screenings of that clip to get feedback. If you could do that and get feedback of maybe 200 informed users/audience demographic and build on that when you find the right executive hour pitch slot via Stage32 to someone with the right credentials I think you'd have a strong and immediate appeal. 10second conversion and 55mins 50seconds discussion.
What's your thought? Is my guess right?

I just wanted to thank all of you who watched my beautiful Shayne. It makes my heart skip a beat that he was seen and listened to at least for a few moments in time. It is as if he lives again for that moment of time. Thank you. Love and Strength to All.
