I am a painter (www.sharonbritton.com). As we each walk through life, we take in enormous amounts of information about who we are, the people around us and the Universe in which we live. I have learned that I have the capacity to sit with differently colored paints, meditate and create something that is a unique, multi-hued expression of how I interpret those sensory inputs on some very deep and probably unconscious level.
I truly believe that there is an artist living inside everyone, and we all need to connect to that artist to convey our innermost self. In my life, my wonderful husband and my two amazing children, as well as practicing yoga and finding a tribe of people who believe in self-expression, have created the kind of freeing environment for me to awaken the artist inside of me.
Recently, seven of my paintings were featured in Artbook Tampa Bay Volume II.
I am also the creative-consultant and an instructor with Zirit-Life, a business which offers tools for a lifestyle approach based on breathing deeply, sending love and letting go in the present moment. I will be leading classes titled “Your Life is Art” for Zirit-Life.
Before becoming a painter, I practiced intellectual property law, handling well-known cases on behalf of famous recording artists, record labels and publishing companies. I have also published articles on copyright and education issues. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the American University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University, graduating both with honors. This career led me to the belief that we all need to remember that we, the people, are the ones who make the rules in this life.
If we want to change something, we merely need to paint a different picture.
