METALLICATASTROPHE
By John Devilman

GENRE: Science Fiction, Animation
LOGLINE:

On a war ravaged distant planet, a mysterious boy with unexplained powers ventures off to search for his adopted father who goes missing on a dangerous mission.

SYNOPSIS:

After a crash landing, human colonists find themselves in the middle of an ongoing war between the different indigenous extraterrestrials that inhabit the planet. Mother Brain, the leader of the AI robots, who cared for the space caravan on their voyage, rebels against the colonists, allying itself with the extraterrestrials. Years pass as the war rages on. Mother Brain gains power and becomes a serious threat.

News comes down the wire of a new weapon, being developed by Mother Brain, that could have a staggering effect on the war effort. An elite team, lead by the Colonel, goes to investigate and destroy the weapon. What the stumble upon is a human boy being operated on.

A normal boy on the outside, Cas, (short for Catastrophe), the Colonel argues that, rather than just kill what appears to be an innocent child, they bring Cas back to the colony where they can administered tests and get information about what Mother Brain was planning with him.

Aside from being far stronger and more nimble than any human, tests indicate nothing out of the ordinary. Having grown fond of the boy while the tests were being run, the Colonel decides to adopt Cas. Years go by with seemingly no incident. The people of the colony never truly open up to Cas, suspecting he could turn on them at any minute, given his origins.

The colony is attacked. Fearful for the life of his neighbors, Cas’s powers manifest themselves. Unwittingly, he takes control of attacking robots against their will, making them puppets of his own. He even reanimates some of the dead organics. With his help, the colonists barely squeak out a win. Despite his being instrumental in the victory, the citizens openly fear him now, calling for his expulsion from the colony.

The Colonel turns his back on the fearful colonists and takes Cas to a remote part of the planet to live in seclusion. That is before the colonists come to him with a dangerous mission they need his expertise for. Shortly after accepting and leaving on the mission, the Colonel goes missing.

Knowing the colonists won’t be of any help, Cas sets out on his own to save the Colonel. He must traverse a war-torn landscape and discover what became of his adopted father. On his journey, he will make allies, discover secrets about the war, and uncover the mysteries behind his creation.
