Thanks for your thoughts, Meghan. I've been practicing this way of living for a while now without knowing its roots in ancient history. Nothing like accidentally being on the right track!
Thanks for the share. I wholeheartedly agree. Even if you go in the wrong direction you learn something and keep moving. Just standing still and worrying is a hard motivator. Appreciate the gentle "stop procrastinating" call-to-action, in 3 very simple key reminders. I'm gonna have to pin these to the wall behind my monitor. Thanks!
Thanks for writing this great article, am pleased with the message especially since I have conflicting opinions on the whether stoicism doesn't lead to shortsightedness.
Ambitious people always tend to look more into the future than the current moment.
Great article! So important to remember that we shouldn't worry about what we can't control. We need to take joy in creating art and not worrying about whether or not the art will be liked.
Love it!

That’s the big challenge. To be mindful with my thoughts. Helps a lot, because my emotions come from my thoughts. Today I am a happy human being, even in the days I am not, I accept that and everything is smooth. I am new in the creative industry, but my skills helps me. Your blog is a validation that I am in the right path. Thank youuu
Thank you so much for passing on these wisdoms, Meghan. Indeed in an industry that's based on opinions it helps to have that once-removed sense of balance that can support our continuing involvement and enjoyment of the creative processes. Best of luck with your Eleanor of Aquitaine project; please do keep us posted about your progress.

Fantastic article, Meghan! There is So Much value here. :)
Fantastic blog, Meghan! I really like “When something is blocking you from achieving your goals, try changing your perspective to see how the problem may actually steer you in the direction you need to go.” Creatives can use that when outlining scripts, networking, pitching, etc. Thanks for sharing...

Love it!
Loved this post from start to finish. It's the way I try to live my life and my career, hands down. Never realized I was practicing Stoicism.
Thank you for sharing the information. I Personally Like Your Post; You Shared Good Insights And Experiences. Keep It Up.
Thanks for posting, Meghan. I vastly prefer the Stoic philosophy to trendy California faux-positive power-of-attraction New Age-ism. Expand postThanks for posting, Meghan. I vastly prefer the Stoic philosophy to trendy California faux-positive power-of-attraction New Age-ism. As Isaac Asimov put it, in response to the famous Napoleon Hill quote about whatever the mind of man can conceive he can achieve (and I paraphrase), "Well, I can CONCEIVE of running faster than the speed of light. But that doesn't change the laws of physics." Stoicism, like the serenity prayer you quoted, concedes there are things beyond our control. But our attitude is not one of them. On the one hand we have choices like, "What color socks do I wear today?" but there are also events like "The Sun just blew up. You have 8 minutes to live." The mistake I think most of us make is that the vast majority of our challenges are much closer to choosing our socks yet we view them as exploding stars.
Not a bad piece of advice, as far as it goes (i.e. as far as the writing business is concerned) -- just as long as you remember that stoicism DOES have limits in real life!

But, a year into the pandemic, I started watching youtube videos about acting, directing, joined webinars about acting and screenwriting and just focused on creativity and growing as a creative and I learned so much in that time. What I first thought would be a setback, helped me grow as an artist.
Great article!
These are great principles! I'm a firm believer in "The Obstacle Is the Way". I tell everyone I know that all of the struggling, pivoting, and figuring out what works IS the journey.
Thank you for writing this, Meghan. My highschool crush was Marcus Aurelius. :)..I need to read him again. Your message is timely to me and inspiring. I can't wait to see your work about Eleanor of Aquitane...another historical figure who intrigues me!
