About Bill

As an actor I'm an everyman - a leading character actor often seen for the role of an executive or a helping professional such as a doctor or teacher. I've been described as combining the intensity of Bryan Cranston with the quirky edge of William H. Macy.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio, but my acting addiction began in Boston, where I also studied voice and dance. In two seasons of summer stock in Maine and in Boston theaters, I acted in productions ranging from musicals to Shakespeare to experimental and street theater. I also did radio, TV, films, commercials and industrials, before moving to the Left Coast in 1987.

In L.A. I expanded beyond acting: eight years of radio news reporting; “police beat” wire service reporting from LAPD headquarters; and writing feature stories for the L.A. Times and other publications. I hosted red-carpet events at Shrine Auditorium and the Pasadena Civic. I also did PR, and marketing for both director-producer David Winters, and video rental pioneer George Atkinson.

Returning to acting in 2017, I also learned improv and physical comedy skills at Second City with Rob Belushi, Dean Evans, and other teachers. I've acted recently in theater, films, TV, music videos, web series and Virtual Reality. I also began performing standup comedy at top venues. I started the podcast and YouTube channel “But You're Not Funny!” And I wrote, produced, and acted in the award-winning short film “Mother’s Day Memories.”

ACTOR: Comedic and dramatic roles with an edge: angry attorney, gullible executive, zany school principal, insulted wealthy art buyer, well-meaning but misguided father, etc. Experience in theater, radio, TV, film, web series, VR, features, shorts, commercials, industrial/educational productions.

STANDUP COMEDY: The Comedy Store (open for Jamie Kennedy), The Ice House, etc. Also red carpet host/announcing from Shrine Auditorium and Pasadena Civic.

PODCAST CREATOR/HOST: 'BUT YOU'RE NOT FUNNY! Confessions of a Boomer Out-fluencer" features entertaining and provocative interviews with experts on a range of useful topics. First episode: "Sex & Gender in Relationships." Available on audio podcast platforms plus YouTube:

WRITER: Writer-producer of short film "Mother's Day Memories," winner of 2020 Idyllwild Intl. Festival of Cinema Indie Spirit Award, Calif. Women's Film Festival 3rd place Audience Award, Official Selection at LA Shorts, Chelsea, Louisville, Niagara Falls, Short Shorts, and Hollywood Reel Independent film festivals. Feature screenplay "The Secret War" won 2nd place at Women in Action Film Festival, nominations at other festivals. Other formats: "Police beat" reporter from LAPD headquarters; feature stories in LA Times, Huffington Post.

Unique traits: Leading character acting blending Bryan Cranston's intensity with William H. Macy's quirkiness.
