LOGLINE:

When her father's mining job forces a trendy teenage girl to an isolated mountain town, she is thrust into a war between her new classmates and a corporation hellbent on harnessing their ancient power.

SYNOPSIS:

A white tail deer is shot in the woods by a masked HUNTER, but instead of using a bullet, he uses a tranquilizer. He loads the deer's body in the back of his truck and drives off into the night. As he drives, he speaks with a woman on the phone, who demands he bring the subject in alive. A quick check in the rearview reveals the deer is gone. The Hunter hangs up, turns around and speeds back the way he came, only so slam head long into a teenage girl in the middle of the road. The Hunter drags the girl into the bed of his truck and drives off once again.

CAROLINE DAWSON and her father, JEFF DAWSON, arrive in the town of Everett, B.C. following his transfer to a new job at a prestigious mining firm, and It does not take long for Caroline to decide it is the last place on earth she wants to be. Compared to the big city of Toronto where she grew up, Everett may as well be a ghost town. To make matters worse, a girl from the school, REBECCA BREMMER, has been missing for a week now, casting a dark shadow over the entire town. During her first day at Everett High, Caroline meets ABBY HARRIS, a friendly girl who gives her a tour of the school but accidentally reveals some of the students don't like her because of her Dad's job at the mine.

Caroline's suspicions that something about her new home isn't right are confirmed when she overhears a conversation between two students, COLIN and JEREMY, regarding the missing girl at school. The pair agree to meet later that night in the woods outside of town. That night, Caroline lies to her father and sneaks out to snoop on the meeting. What she discovers is a dark and ancient secret - Some of the students in her school have the ability to turn themselves into animals at will. Caroline attempts to film what she sees but an owl steals her phone and flies off with it, before being attacked by The Hunter and dropping the phone, which The Hunter finds. Meanwhile, ARDEN STEVENS stands over a hospital bed over the unconscious body of Rebecca Bremmer, hooked up to all sorts of wires and ventilators. She speaks on the phone with someone demanding a demonstration, which Arden tells him Rebecca is too weak to perform. After the call, Arden contacts The Hunter and sends him out to find another specimen.

Caroline doesn't know what to do or who to turn to until NOAH BREMMER, Rebecca's brother, takes her under his wing and explains to her the terrible situation he and his friends are in - The students who have discovered this ability are being tracked down and captured by a mysterious Hunter. What we know and the kids do not, is that The Hunter is working for a larger and far more sinister organization out to capture and weaponize the kids and their powers. Even worse, the cover this organization uses to enter the town is the very mine Caroline's father unwittingly works for.

Despite not all of the students trusting her, Caroline offers to help in figuring out The Hunter's identity and stop the disappearances. However, not every member of the group is convinced, particularly KATIE and MARISSA, who question Caroline's loyalties due to her father's job at the mine. At a farm house next to a church, The Hunter pulls into his garage with Jeremy bound and gagged in the back of his truck. He goes for the house, removes his mask and heads inside where Abby watches television and greets her father with a big smile.
