About Tammy

Tammy "Taz" Diaz got her start in film at the ripe old age of 5 with a local kids' show called "Mr. Peppermint's Place." She spent most of her younger years winning awards in character and romantic roles on stage and, thanks to a big singing voice, excelled in musicals, playing key roles such as Christine (Phantom of the Opera) and Sandy (Grease) as well as directing student shorts and stage plays. She returned to film during her college years at U.T. Austin, acting in student films and local ads along with continuing to perform on stage. A natural-born geek with a freakishly high I.Q., she put her non-standard brain to use in the 1990's ghost writing screenplays and doing uncredited production work to learn the "Hollywood" ropes while fronting local cover bands.

Having lost her youth and won her independence by 2010, she has taken to producing and directing features & pilots. In a pinch, she will spend countless hours negotiating with (begging for mercy from) talent agents, managers and sometimes amateur actors, in a casting director capacity. She is now writing under her own name while serving on the staff of Worldfest Houston, the world's oldest independent film festival.
