THE CHINATOWN'S CREW (USA)

LOGLINE:

In a few-room drama, a group of production teams must determine what needs to be done, what should be included as a film element, both music scores, dialogues, how to place the right scenes, and those handled by the director who is also involved in the discussion, namely what kind of film style to be taken.

SYNOPSIS:

Divided into two parts

First Half:

In a few-room drama, a group of production teams must determine what needs to be done, what should be included be a film element, both music scores, dialogues, how to place the right scenes, and those handled by the director who is also involved in the discussion, namely what kind of film style to be taken.

A creative team is risking their reputation by remaking a legendary film, Chinatown, for the sake of arousing a long-dead movie with lots of films that for them only seek financial gain. They know that remaking one of the biggest films can be a boomerang for them. With the determination of steel, they gathered together in a room to discuss the best effort that needed to be done so that at least the film received sufficient appreciation. They realize that going beyond Chinatown is almost impossible, and they try to disappoint the public at least not.

The scriptwriting team consisting of three people, Tim, Jimmy, and also Austin tried to learn but did not copy the Chinatown manuscript, they also tried to learn the Chinatown dialogue, how the life of Chinatown which would definitely affect the accent as well as language, they also consider the contemporary language of the area when in the era portrayed in the film Chinatown, so did Andrea Conelly who discussed with some of his men whether to enter the score in crescendo or descrendo, or it would be minimal in terms of scoring.

Hall Albert, as the director of photography, studied the film Chinatown by watching it many times, he was keen to see what shots could be developed and had never been in the movie, the aim was to get a new breath and so that the latest version of Chinatown was not considered only to follow.

The director who is said to be young is watching and exploring what is being fought by his colleagues, they also share advice, share advice, but sometimes it doesn't work, Robert, the director, disappears for several hours to calm down and collect in his head what matters the best he would decide from the advice of his subordinates, but he realized that it only improved his egoic nature as a human being, he returned to his crew and stated that the best thing in working on the remake of Chinatown with deliberation and consensus.

Second Half:

The film runs narrated by the execution of the director, writers, and crew in their respective parts, for example when the screenwriters tells the ending of the film, the film narrates it with the screenwriters who discusses with they assistants, and the scene takes place through the dialogue of the scriptwriters and they colleagues, even the director and the rest of the crew.

The film closes with a prayer in accordance with beliefs and encourages each crew, and then the crew walks into a special room that has been turned into a mini cinema and watches Chinatown (1974) together.
