DECEPTION

DECEPTION
By Christine Locker And Lee Ann Riddle

GENRE: Thriller, Drama
LOGLINE:

A man tries to piece together the puzzle of who attempted to murder his wife, when she reappears seven years later, accusing him.

SYNOPSIS:

JASON adores his wife, KAY, despite her struggle with alcoholism. He believes she is a great partner and mom to their son, Dex, and feels that the biggest issue in their marriage seems to be his mother, ERICA’s hatred of Kay and this makes Jason extremely defensive of his wife.

Kay has a great relationship with Jason’s sister, SELINA, who she was best friends with before she even started dating Jason.

Selina tends to turn a blind eye to her husband, DENNIS, who is constantly having affairs. He is also running for senator at the time.

Jason has to see a doctor about blackouts he has been experiencing, but tries not to stress Kay about it.

Kay over-indulgences at a family friend’s party and Selina offers to take her home before she makes a big scene.

Jason puts Kay to bed and then decides to go for a walk on the beach. He falls asleep on the porch chair, and when he goes to bed at 4 AM, his wife is missing.

After days of searching, the police conclude that Kay, still inebriated, must’ve gone swimming in the sea and drowned.

Jason’s blackouts are determined to be due to a brain tumour.

Seven years later, Jason is piecing his life back together. He marries Phyllis, much to his mother’s delight. She is very invested in Dex. But all is not perfect. Phyllis realises that Jason is still hung up on Kay.

Jason is unexpectedly confronted by a reality TV show, where Kay reveals that she is still very much alive and has been hiding, accusing Jason of trying to murder her the night she disappeared.

Jason learns that Kay had been having an affair. While trying to figure out who she was seeing, he starts to believe that he may actually have been responsible and wonders if he can’t remember due to the blackouts. Piecing back the puzzle leads to the most unexpected of conclusions.
