A young woman trades in high heels for mud boots, joining her father’s livestock genetics business in her Midwest hometown, where newly arriving immigrants, having been forcibly relocated from the coasts amid a climate change-related water shortage, also struggle to find acceptance in a land as frightening to them as it is beautiful. Dramatic series.
SYNOPSIS:
After fleeing to her hometown, a fighting-to-stay-alive community in the hills of far northeast Iowa, Lainey Dwyer pitches in half-heartedly with her family's livestock insemination business. But she soon discovers it’s not going to be a free ride; Lainey’s father insists she step up, and she finds herself spending her days traveling the tri-state area as a fertility specialist to cows.
The one-hour dramatic series is set against the backdrop of a major national upheaval. The president has announced that he will relocate first-generation immigrants from water-deprived regions, such as southern California to water-rich states, such as Iowa. The forced relocation creates tensions in states on both sides of the equation, but also ultimately opens some hearts and minds. Amid the upheaval, Lainey finds herself at odds with both a close friend and a young Latino farmer she has begun dating.
