About Colleen

Colleen Bradford Krantz, owner of Pink Spear Productions, is an independent film and television producer/director, journalist and author. Her latest project, "Complete Bull," is a dramatic modern Western series focused on a woman reluctantly working at her father's livestock genetics company when first-generation immigrants are forcibly relocated to her small hometown from the drought-plagued coasts. She recently completed "Unintended," a true-story miniseries looking at how society reacted to unplanned pregnancies a century ago. Krantz previously directed and co-produced the independent documentary "West by Orphan Train," which won a regional Emmy in 2015. Krantz wrote and co-produced another documentary, “Train to Nowhere; Inside an Immigrant Death Investigation," which was licensed to Netflix. Her award-winning book of the same name was the starting point for the film. Before becoming an author and filmmaker, Krantz spent a decade as a newspaper reporter, working at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Des Moines Register. When not doing her own independent film and television work, she produces stories for the nationally-distributed agriculture show, Market to Market.
