In today's rapidly evolving film industry, securing traditional funding for your project can be increasingly challenging, particularly as risk-averse investors shy away from direct investments in creative projects. However, with over $250 billion sitting in U.S. Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and private family foundations, there’s an untapped potential for you to explore alternative fundraising strategies. These funds, often overlooked, present a unique opportunity to finance socially impactful films while offering investors tax-advantaged pathways to support causes they believe in. Understanding how to access and utilize these philanthropic resources is not only timely but crucial for producers looking to de-risk their projects and attract additional investments.
Despite the growing availability of philanthropic funds, many producers struggle to tap into these resources due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of how DAFs and private foundations operate. Common missteps include not knowing the right questions to ask, failing to offer enticing benefits to potential funders, and misunderstanding the strategic use of these funds to de-risk projects. Additionally, producers often overlook geographic and media-type limitations that could impact their ability to secure funding. This webinar aims to equip producers with the knowledge and tools to avoid these pitfalls and successfully leverage philanthropic funding for their productions.
This webinar is led by Rick Davis, Managing Partner of LOHAS, which provides solutions for impact investing and fundraising. He is a seasoned expert in entertainment finance with a deep understanding of alternative fundraising strategies. With extensive experience in working with producers to secure non-traditional funding sources, Rick has successfully guided numerous on how to tap into philanthropic resources like DAFs and private foundations. His expertise in navigating the complexities of these funding avenues makes him the perfect instructor for this webinar.

Has anyone who attended this presentation delt with a DAF or Foundation.
Thank you to everyone who attended the webinar today!!
The "result" of any webinar is what is important. I am interested in learning where each attendee takes this knowledge and how they use it help fund their projects.
Watch and share our teaser where we unveil the biography of our main character, Leslie Baxter.
A war-weary journalist and a fearless anchorwoman delve into the heart of Peru's violent highlands to expose a military massacre. As they uncover chilling secrets amid a landscape ravaged by terror and corruption, they must face their own haunted pasts to survive the deadly forces determined to silence them.

Expand postCurfew is not just a film—it’s a story that needs to be told. Drawing from the turbulent history of Peru’s internal conflict during the 1980s and 90s, this narrative is deeply rooted in the real-life horrors of war, political corruption, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. As a writer, I felt compelled to bring this story to the screen to shed light on a dark chapter in history that still reverberates today. The inspiration for Curfew stems from my personal connection to the region and its people. Having spent significant time in Peru, I have witnessed the scars left by the violence and fear that gripped the country during those years. The characters in Curfew—journalists who risk their lives to uncover the truth, villagers caught in the crossfire, and those who wield power with ruthless disregard for humanity—are a reflection of the complex, often contradictory forces at play in any conflict. Through Curfew, I aim to explore the moral dilemmas faced by those who seek to document the truth in times of war. The film delves into the psychological toll such a quest can take, both on the individuals who pursue it and the communities they seek to protect. It’s a story about the cost of truth, the sacrifices made in its pursuit, and the enduring hope that justice can prevail, even in the darkest of times. The narrative structure of Curfew is designed to immerse the audience in the tension and uncertainty of the situation. From the dense jungles of the Amazon to the desolate highlands of the Andes, the film’s setting serves as a character in its own right—hostile, unforgiving, yet hauntingly beautiful. This backdrop, combined with a plot that weaves together suspense, drama, and moments of profound human connection, creates a cinematic experience that is both intense and deeply affecting. I believe that Curfew has the potential to resonate with global audiences because it addresses universal themes—truth, justice, and the human cost of conflict. While the story is specific to Peru, its message is relevant to any society grappling with the aftermath of violence and the challenges of reconciliation. Having won 16 international screenwriting awards and secured financing in both Peru and Brazil, Curfew is a project that has already garnered significant recognition and support. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I am committed to bringing this story to life with the integrity and authenticity it deserves. Thank you for considering Curfew. I am confident that, with the right team and resources, this film will not only captivate audiences but also contribute to a broader understanding of the complexities of war, journalism, and the relentless pursuit of truth.
