My name is Tamara, but I go by "Nica" when I'm doing stand up. I have a podcast and You Tube show called "The Sauna Interviews" where I interview people in my sauna in Silver Lake.
I was a writer/director for awhile in the independent film world. My films played in Sundance, and Cannes. My film "Men Cry Bullets" won best Narrative Feature at SXSW, and a some other festivals, and had a small theatrical release, but I decided to leave filmmaking for multiple personal reasons. Nevertheless, I still miss directing very badly and so I've recetly started directing shows for some comedians I know. I've had many turning points in my life, but the one that stands out the most is the moment I decided to start my own private school for my children. Many people told my I couldn't do it, but I did anyway and ended up becoming a school principal for five years.
