Spencer Wardwell

Attended Boston University for Film/TV. However, decided to leave after 3 semesters once offered a job to shoot / edit short-form documentaries on southern artists for a start-up lifestyle brand based in Alabama.

After a year and a half in Alabama, I moved to New York to join the team at as a shooter / editor, getting to film one of my favorite subjects — delicious food.
There, I strengthened my skills in shooting under high-pressure situations, unpredictable environments, all with a small footprint.

One year later, I found myself as the (excuse the term) "Preditor," (Producer/Director/Shoot/Editor) at GQ.
I used my time at GQ to further develop my fashion videography, which allowed my work to become more stylized with the camera, lighting, and editing.
Additionally at GQ, I quickly got accustomed to shooting high-profile talent — easily adapting to any situation in order to make those on camera as comfortable as possible.

Then in 2016, I moved out to Los Angeles to work as a freelance Director and Cinematographer for clients such as Urban Outfitters, Nike, Univison, and Ulta Beauty.
Additionally, moving to LA allowed me the opportunity to work on narrative films and receive my MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute.
