SYNOPSIS:
Cinemas have been closing rapidly and some went into administration or insolvency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually, it takes one man and his American shareholder to get the Lion, an old famed cinema somewhere not too far away from London, to be revamped, rebuilt, and reopened. Their attempts to reopen and start a celebration of sorts seem to fall on deaf ears as they initially plan to showcase the new Marvel Cinematic Universe film but decide against it. Instead, the manager of the cinema decides to screen a controversial political satire/action film that’s half-“Dr. Strangelove”, half-“Red Dawn” and invite almost every famous face in Britain including the Prime Minister, Prince Harry, and Duchess Meghan- just to name a few. Eventually, the end result proves to be ugly as the famous spectators are appalled by their mockery in this film and the extreme violence depicted against them. The controversy surrounding the premiere soon helps the cinema’s profile but it means the American shareholder wants no part in the cinema anyone and so some Irish republican-supporting shareholders takeover supportive of the film’s messages.
