When a deputy police chief's abused wife decides to leave him, she must outwit the man who controls the law and has isolated her from anyone who could help.

Kate plans to leave her respected police chief husband, but it won't be easy.

He's never left a bruise, but his control is absolute, monitoring her phone, isolating her from friends and family, and using his badge to remind her that no one would believe her over him.

He has systematically cut off every avenue of help: her family thinks she's distant and ungrateful, neighbors see him as a hero, and the local police are his colleagues and friends.

One night, she must gather what few resources she has, outmaneuver a man trained to hunt people down, and find someone, anyone, who will see past the uniform to the monster beneath.

In the end, freedom will require Kate to become as calculating as her abuser, and to risk losing everything in order to save herself.
