About Thabiso

Thabiso is a South African Director-Screenwriter and former structural engineer who got his break into the film industry thanks to the NFVF Youth Filmmakers Project, crafting the award-winning short The Turning Son (2019), writing several produced feature films, and line-producing a major feature film. He directed the feature films PRIME (2023) and Offside (2023), delivering narrative filmmaking that is focused on cinematic storytelling within the scope of efficient and auteur-driven filmmaking.

He believes in Film’s incredible ability to tell a moving story through its motion- and emotion-driven medium. He passionately deals with themes of family, identity, and social division. As a result, he is focused on stirring the audience with quality performances captured within creative and authorial blocking that meets motivated cinematography.

His love for films and his personal connection to the cinematic medium ensures the frame is his baton as he conducts the cinematic symphony. His mission and dedication to film is to walk the fine line between film art and globally-facing storytelling, creating stories that dive into the heart of what is local to find what is global. He creates work that is distributed across line and country, finding emotional connection with the audience within all genre.
