About Shaunya

Shaunya Boddie is a screenwriter from Denver, Colorado. She is a graduate of Oral Roberts University, where she studied English Literature with a Writing Minor. Once out of university, she started a production company with her producer sister, which resulted in a Telly Award for an originally created movie critique show, which had Ms. Boddie behind the camera as a writer and in front, as a co-host. The show ran for three years and had the sisters interviewing over 100 celebrity producers, directors and actors to an audience of 350 million cable viewers. And it was during this time that Ms. Boddie wrote the majority of eight feature length screenplays covering most genres.

In 2010, she started 5Penny Productions with her editor-producer partner. The company’s goal is to produce creative theater, film and TV projects for their company and various clients. In 2012, the duo, with their latest short film, “Free: I’m Strong Here,” was honored with a 3rd place win at the Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival, alongside first place winner, “When You Find Me,” by Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Ms. Boddie has an original short film screenplay, "Midnight," which was optioned in the early 2000's and more recently, went on to win Semi-finalist status at the 2016 Moondance Film Festival Screenplay Competition; and be nominated in its category for the New Media Film Festival Short Screenplay Competition in 2018. Later that same year, another original screenplay, "Fly Girls," was chosen as Finalist in 's Film & Screenplay Contest and subsequently, published on Amazon as a result of that award.

Most recently, Ms. Boddie wrote and directed her company's first web-series called, "The Baxter Girls," which currently streams on 24Flix, and penned the Pilot for her first television series.
