Andrea Refuge enters a reconstructed memory of Inception Heights, Colorado, convinced that she killed her brother, Jack. When Jack appears alive inside the memory and begins recalling details independently of her, Andrea questions whether he is merely a projection—or someone trapped alongside her. Guided by the calculating Dr. Philip Evilton, Andrea is pressured to accept a version of the past that will permanently preserve Jack’s death. But as living black roots and insect-wing patterns invade the reconstruction, Andrea discovers that an unknown entity killed Jack—and that Philip needs her consent to bury the truth. Refusing to wake until she finds her brother, Andrea follows the entity deeper into her fractured mind.
