It sounds great, but can I ask is the 17-year old caring for his mother? Is he conflicted about being with his mother? May I suggest this:
"While caring for his mother suffering from Alzheimer's, a seventeen-year old finds himself in the midst of a crisis, trying to maintain his morals and balance his life."
