GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

An introverted Advertising executive, recovering from a traumatic experience is fired for challenging a passed promotion. She joins a Hair Salon, and pivots it to challenge her former company, opening a Pandora’s box of dangerous rent-seekers who control the underbelly of Harare’s corporate world.

SYNOPSIS:

Meet Nakai, an introverted advertising executive recovering from a lightning accident. She’s recently returned to work and embarks on a mission to “fetch her life” by reclaiming the promotion that she believes was wrongly passed. In a “law-of-unintended-consequences’ fashion, she ends up jobless with no choice but to accept a token position as Manager of a hair Salon. In typical Breaking Bad style, Nakai pivots not just her career, but also her motivations and ideals as she traverses the comfort and safety of the familiar, entangling herself with very dangerous criminals who turn her pursuit of dreams into a fight to reclaim her soul. But she’s not alone; through her eyes, we creep into the private and professional lives of 3 other female protagonist, brought together by circumstances and bonded less by friendship, than expediency. As their goals converge, their moral compasses diverge to a point of no return. This is a story of a woman, thrown to the wolves, but who returns leading the pack. As the show progresses, we get to understand the complexities of life in urban Zimbabwe. It also looks at women who turn vulnerability into strength, and present their character arcs in positions of power and influence in a male-dominated society.
