SYNOPSIS:
COLT MCCORD (43) is a retired army ranger who would do anything for his
family. Due to a fatal illness called Moyamoya disease, his beloved
wife, KIMBER (39), and teen daughter KALI (15) are terminally ill, as
doctors have tried everything they could to cure them unsuccessfully.
This news gives Colt totally devastated.
Unexpectedly Kimber and Kali's nurse, TUUWA (30), a Native American,
tells Colt that there's an option for Kali and Kimber to continue living
that consists of an ancient ceremony by her people, but that needs a
sacrifice. At first, Colt is incredulous but, unwilling to let his
family go, he accepts to take his family to this ceremony.
Colt drives his family, to a camp established in ancient ruins. There,
they are greeted by ELDER CLEON (born in 200 AC), the guardian, and one
of the highest authorities of the clan.
Before starting, Tuuwa informs Colt about the process he and his family
are going to follow. She tells him that the ceremony will last three
days, and after that, he and his family have to remain at the commune
for one year. Colt is also told that they are going to reveal all their
secrets and, because of that, he has to follow the ceremony until the
end and not leaving the camp; otherwise he will die.
Still, without knowing what the ceremony consists of, Elder Cleon
finally reveals it to Colt: he and his family will be turned into
vampires, therefore, immortal. He also tells him about the process of
the ceremony itself, which will consist of a transfer of Elder Cleon's
blood to Kimber and Kali. Even though that idea doesn't totally fancy
Colt, the promise that his wife and daughter will be totally healed and
all of them will be immortal makes him agree.
Kimber and Kali's ceremony is finally completed successfully. They look
totally recovered and better than ever. Kimber is the first to wake up,
feeling totally confused and scared. Tuuwa feeds her and orders her to
wake up her daughter, who drinks the blood and immediately falls asleep
again. After that, Colt enters and, with the help of Tuuwa, explains
everything to his wife, who thanks her husband for having saved them.
The couple wakes Kali and tells her she's turned into a vampire, news
she feels totally excited about. Kali starts to ask questions about the
vampire's issues she saw in movies and then begins to experiment with
her new sensations and powers. Finally, the time for Colt's ceremony
arrives. When the process starts, everything seems to go well, until
Colt's body begins to shake violently as Elder Cleon thrashes about
violently guttural roars while he tries to remove the tube that connects
him with Colt's blood.
When Colt wakes up feeling bad, Tuuwa tells him that the ceremony cannot
be fulfilled as his blood is a threat to them. The only thing he can do
is find a pure blood vampire to try again.
Colt leaves his family in the care of Elder Cleon and, with the company
of Tuuwa and his former battle partner WHISKEY (44), who apparently was
converted into a vampire after being mortally injured in Afghanistan,
sets out on a journey to search for a full-blooded vampire who will
allow him to become a vampire and be able to be with his family forever.
