Kyle Schmalenberg is an award-winning director and producer at Wrapped Productions Inc. He has produced the fictional and documentary short films Another World (2021) with Caramel Futures and Who We Are (2019) which are both streaming on CGood.tv. He wrote and directed Glimpses into the Spirit of Gender Equality, a feature-length doc commissioned by the Baha’i International Community and in collaboration with the United Nations, which had its virtual premiere at the Commission on the Status of Women and was officially selected to a number of festivals winning 4 awards (2 for best documentary).
His current projects include the feature drama TENAYA, now in pre-production, which he wrote and will co-direct, and THE PAINTING, a feature documentary which Wrapped Productions is co-producing with Fathom Films.
He was co-creator and facilitator at the Native Film & Storytelling Institute and is involved in a number of grassroots initiatives aimed at promoting BIPOC youth and women in the Canadian film industry.
Prior to founding Wrapped Productions, his commercial work included projects with CBC, Air Jordan, AMEX, AirMiles, Krylon, and Special Olympics Canada.
