A zookeeper who prefers animals to people must take over as zoo director to save her beloved small town zoo and her own family. The lives of the animals are intertwined with the lives of the people who care for them and the larger global issues of habitat loss, climate change, poaching, overfishing, anti-zoo protests, and rewilding.
