About Jose
The fact of being born in Chile, a small country in the extreme south of the world, has made my dream of pursuing an interesting career as a storyteller seem very very very difficult to achieve. Still, I decided to follow that path without knowing what I might find.
I have traveled many paths in the audiovisual world, advertising, television, online marketing, videos for companies, weddings and even funerals (I did not charge for that one) but always full of ideas in many notebooks, I guess like many of you, waiting for the right moment to carry them out.
This is how I made my first documentary in 2010 and then my first Feature Film in 2018. But what changed everything for me was getting to know american screenwriter James V. Hart (one of the few benefits of the pandemic). His writing method gave me the tools to structure the script and put the emphasis of the story on character. This is how I became his shadow, I assist him in his masterclasses, I support him in the development of his story maping tool app, and the most satisfying project; we are partners in a training program that we design for Latin American writers with great success.
These last few years have opened up many possibilities for me and I don't want to let them pass, that's why I'm here, to show my work and above all to learn from my colleagues, the instructors and from everything that is at hand.
James told me something that Coppola told him once; "Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid". I really hope that´s true, because we can´t help trying, can we?
