To save her family she takes advantage of the Volstead Act to keep them housed and fed by distilling Grappa, putting her family in a different kind of danger.

Your logline is very good, but here's my humble suggestion to improve it: 'After a coal mine takes a woman's husband, leaving her destitute with three young children in the hills of 1921 Alabama, she now has to rely on Volstead Act to keep them housed and fed by distilling Grappa, putting her family in a different kind of danger.'
