A Temple University Film School graduate, Dave has been working in the television and film industry for over 30 years. He began his career as a production intern for The Mike Douglas Show. Subsequent television work included working as a PA for ABC Sports and NBC Sports, (a highlight being work on the World Series for NBC in 1980).
Dave started his own production company, DZP Video/Multimedia, Inc. and took the company into full time operation in 1985. As a producer/director/director of photography, his work has included corporate and ad agency communications projects, computer graphics, animation, video production, commercials, web delivery and broadcast shooting assignments for NBC News, The Today Show, NBC Universal Sports, ESPN, CNBC, PBS, QVC, The Speed Channel, The Outdoor Channel, Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight, Better Philly, FYI Philly, Visions, Primetime Weekend, Independent Lens, KVPT Fresno, NBC4 Washington, D.C., 7ABC Detroit, 6ABC Philadelphia, and MYPHL17 Philadelphia. He worked at the 2000 Republican National Convention shooting video for NBC4. Corporate clients have included American Standard, Mobil, Sun Co., First Pa. Bank, Subaru, Bell of Pa., AT&T, Shared Medical Systems, AmerisourceBergen, Tyco, Independence Blue Cross, Case New Holland, Timet, The F. Dohmen Co., Somat, Glaxo, Cephalon and ViroPharma. As a director of photography, he has also shot 6 short digital movies for local directors in the Philly and Reading area. His web site is www.dzpvideo.com.
For the last 15 years he has worked for Hunt Cup Productions as a cameraman and director covering steeplechase horse racing for the National Steeplechase Association. A recent highlight was the Steeplechase Championships: the Farhills Race in New Jersey and the International Gold Cup in Virginia were shown together as a 5-hour show on the NBC Universal Sports Network.
He has been a part-time instructor at Temple University, Philadelphia Community College and West Chester University where he taught photography, av production, filmmaking and independent study.
In 2009 he self-published a new book about the Holocaust called Janka Festinger’s Moments of Happiness. This book features the 60-page Holocaust letter that his mother wrote to her uncle in 1945 that describes what happened to the Festinger family after they were taken from their home in Sighet, Romania to Auschwitz. This letter is Janka’s very personal and heart wrenching account of the Holocaust. Also, included in the book are stories about Janka’s life in America. The book is for sale on Amazon.com. In addition to the book he has produced a short documentary about the letter. It can be seen on Youtube.
