In the aftermath of global civil war, an orphaned scavenger taken in by
Resistance survivors, is recruited to pilot a secret variable fighter
by a ruthless military commander determined to protect his legacy at all
costs.

SYNOPSIS:

The Road Warrior meets Top Gun, except Maverick's fighter changes into a giant robot.

"Macross: Satellite" is a post-apocalyptic story where global war has ravaged most of the planet. The remaining survivors live in walled-off cities or brave the wilderness to scavenge on their own. Those caught outside federal control zones are assumed Resistance and mercilessly killed. A new military organization, the American People's Forces (APF), risen from the socialist ashes of the Unification Wars, control most of the territories under martial law.

Teenage girl, Sora Tanaka (16), is swept up by the APF with a group outside a safe zone, narrowly escaping a mass execution. She's saved by our lead character, Troy Wilson (18), a young resistance scavenger, who helps her evade an APF posse. He delivers Sora to her home, where we meet her scientist grandfather, Dr. Tanaka (50s), and his two cohorts, Jason and Bubba (early 30s), surrogate brothers to Sora.

Dr. Tanaka hires Troy to scavenge an item for him, but after a fiery action sequence atop an Abrams tank, Troy escapes with a special bit of equipment, the Satellite Module; a motorcycle-type vehicle that can transform into an armored power suit. Soon, he meets Captain Rokker, an APF officer pursuing the stolen Satellite, who convinces Troy to join the APF for the good of the planet. Rokker explains the Satellite is just the tip of the iceberg in a new military technology called, "mecha". The technology comes from a mysterious, giant alien race.

When the alien fleet finally approaches Earth, a giant battle between humans and aliens ensues. Troy must decide whose side he's on, the APF, who tried to kill Sora, or Sora and her family.
