Hey All! Working on trying hard to stay active on S32! I think it could be a really great resource provided those involved stay active in the community; I've already made a really good networking/working connection through here. He's been a great help in learning about resources here in NYC that I might not have had such an easy time finding as a newbie (plus he's generally a real nice guy!) :-) Networking is only as successful as what you put into it! Hey Russ! How've you been!? :-)

I was reminded by another professional actor on another site that, and I paraphrase, "a working actor is always working, even when they are not working on a paying gig". That's always stuck with me. I think your blog sort of touches on that too, so I love the universailty of that. Another working actor once said "collect your 'no's'". He told the story of his father, who was a car salesman, who the actor once spent time with him one working day. The actor saw his father deal with one failed potential car-buyer after another. For an extended period of time this went on. When finally, after not selling many of the "cheaper" cars, he got a buyer who bought one of the most fancy, expensive cars on the lot. He asked his father if he ever got discouraged by all the rejection he'd faced before the big sale. His father said, "Nope. Sometimes in life, you just have to collect your no's until you get your big, fat, YES!" I LOVED this metaphor and it's stuck with me. I'm going to print out your blog, because I really liked it! I'm a "newbie" working actress. And I've learned not to be ashamed to tell people that that is what I do, for a living or not! It's my career. I am ALWAYS working, I just may not be getting paid for all of it, other than in experience, valuable experience! Thanks Bev!

Hello all! I'm new to Stage 32, and am a working actress, like many of us here, am hoping to find some work and gain experience through projects.
