Matt Morgan was born the youngest of five siblings in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. ...No, not Long Island. RHODE Island. It’s a separate state altogether. Small but fierce...as Matt has often been described.
After graduating from the Emerson College film program in 2005, Matt pursued his overly ambitious career as a screenwriter, actor, and director. Following internships at various production companies such as Lion’s Gate Films, Matt dabbled in many areas of the filmmaking world, working as a script reader, production assistant, actor, special effects artist, and editor. From traveling abroad as a special effects makeup artist and rubber monster puppeteer on Full Moon features, to spending countless hours in an editing bay cutting documentaries like I, Gauguin and reality shows like The Chopper Challenge, Matt has seen and learned from it all...and has the scars to prove it. He most recently produced, shot, and edited a found footage horror feature on a shoestring budget raised almost entirely on .
With a consistent passion for screenwriting, Matt has continued writing both feature film and television scripts. While getting paid to churn out a handful of low budget, independently commissioned creature features, Matt went on to develop several higher-end screenplay projects. One was with longtime writing partner, Ian Sobel, working with Blumhouse Productions. The other was a western with director Oliver Stone. Matt most recently placed as a 2012 Nicholl quarter-finalist, and won the grand prize for the Just Effing Entertain Me Screenwriting Competition. He is currently repped by ICM Partners.
