Erin Conley grew up in upstate New York and developed a love for television and writing at a young age. One of her earliest memories is discussing the series finale of Full House with a kindergarten classmate, and she used to write stories about pre-teen female detectives and save them to floppy discs. She attended Boston University’s College of Communication, majoring in Film and Television. While there, she worked on the crew of BUTV10’s Bay State, starting as a production assistant as a freshman and working her way up to Executive Producer her senior year. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the industry. She started off as an agency assistant before working on scripted television dramas as a production assistant. She went on to be showrunner’s assistant on Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, Marvel’s Iron Fist, and Netflix’s Shadow and Bone. She was promoted to writers’ assistant for season 2 of Shadow and Bone and co-wrote episode 208, which aired in March 2023. She was then staffed on an unannounced Netflix drama series where she completed 27 weeks in the room and wrote her first solo episode. In addition to her television work, Erin began writing theater reviews in 2014 and founded the website On Stage & Screen, which quickly gained recognition in the theater community. This earned her membership in the exclusive Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, and in 2019 she produced their 50th annual awards gala at the historic Pasadena Playhouse. She has written three multi-part podcast series for Wondery Media’s hit show Business Wars, exploring corporate rivalries in the worlds of makeup, fast fashion, and art auctions. She is proud to be involved with her union, the WGA, as a strike captain and lot coordinator. Full Bio »

This webinar has a 100% satisfaction rating! Whether you’re a writer, an actor, a cinematographer, an editor, sound designer, a colorist, a VFX artist or an animator, every project you work on is going to have to pass through post production on the way to fulfilling its creative promise. Post-production is an intricate, sometimes lengthy and always critical process necessary to turn a bunch of shots, moments, and ideas into a singular and polished product. This is no easy task, and doing it well can lead to strong and ongoing career as a post producer. And if you’re a filmmaker or creator in your own right, peeling back some of the mystery of post can help inform your own art and allow you to better create. Despite how vital post-production is to any project, it’s often enigmatic and not fully understood. When most people think of production, they only think of a film set and are less able to visualize what comes after the film set is over. The concept of a dark room where so many decisions are made that determine a show’s eventual success is foreign to most. A successful Post Production process requires an elaborate choreographed dance between creativity, technology, time and money. Understanding what that Post Production process entails, and how your skills can best fit into it, is critical towards making whatever you do creatively more successful in the end. Let’s explore how post production works in scripted episodic TV, one of the most prolific art forms in today’s broadening media landscape. Brad Carpenter is an Emmy nominated producer who for over fifteen years has built a stalwart reputation as one of television’s most sought after and effective producers specializing in post-production. Brad has overseen a slew of massively successful series including HBO behemoths BOARDWALK EMPIRE and SEX AND THE CITY, Showtime’s hit NURSE JACKIE, USA Network’s critically acclaimed THE SINNER, FX’s Emmy-winning FOSSE/VERDON and most recently LITTLE VOICE for Apple TV with executive producers J.J. Abrams and Sara Bareilles. Brad continues to produce upcoming TV shows, including the new TV fantasy drama INK MAN, currently in development. Few producers out there are as practiced and knowledgeable about the intricacies of TV post-production as Brad, and as a long-time member of Stage 32’s community, he’s thrilled to share what he knows. Brad will leave no stone unturned in this all-encompassing rundown of TV post-production, so expect to leave with a full picture of how this field works and how best you can approach it yourself.
You’re ready to take the next big step in your writing career, but you’re not quite sure how to break in. So, how do you go about finding and securing the right manager for your screenwriting career? Managers are inundated with material from potential writing clients. It’s a situation that can puts emerging writers in a tailspin - how do you start your dream career when that first step feels so daunting? The answer lies in being strategic; focusing on finding the right fit for your career, and don't take a scattershot, any-manager-will-do approach and, most important, keep writing regardless of if you have a manager or not - if you build it, they will come! Teaching her secrets to finding and signing with a manager is Krista Sipp. Krista is a manager and producer at Heroes and Villains Entertainment. Her client’s credits include IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, SENSE8, TRANSPARENT, PRECIOUS, HOUSE OF PAYNE, and many more titles. Prior to Heroes and Villains, Kista was a founding partner at First Friday Entertainment, and has worked at Circle of Confusion, New Wave Entertainment and Authentic Talent & Literary Management. Krista has built her career around finding and elevating unrecognized voices and will share what she has learned from her side of the table. Krista will walk through how literary managers operate and what you should be doing to ensure you can get the representation you need to get your writing career to the next level. She will begin by giving a rundown of what exactly lit managers do and how they differ from agents and attorneys. She’ll explain why managers are often the first type of representation for emerging writers and how you should know if you’re ready for a manager of your own. Next Krista will explain how managers go about finding new clients. She will teach you how to find and approach a potential manager for representation. To do this she will go through the tools that are available to you in finding a manger and how you should research potential managers and what kind of information you should look for to make sure they’re the right fit for you. She’ll then give you tips on how to mobilize your own personal network to attract a manager and then will lay out how to best write a query, including what you should also include and what you should never include. Krista will then talk about what you should do if a manager asks to read your material. She’ll talk about how to best manage the manager/client relationship and what to do if that relationship isn’t ultimately working. Finding and working with a lit manager can be challenging, but also incredibly important. Krista will give you the tools to navigate the process better and hopefully put the right actions into place to find a great manager for your career. Praise for Krista's Stage 32 Webinar "Krista laid everything out so clearly and made me feel a lot more comfortable and confident in finding representation for myself" -Stella G. "I thought Ms. Sipp was extremely informative and very detailed. I learned a ton." -Sarah H.
With all the recent success for true story dramas including Oppenheimer, Maestro, Nyad, Ferrari, Irishman (among many others), it’s an exciting time in the marketplace for non-fiction. If you have found a story that truly inspires you and know it will make a great film, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start to make that happen. The easy part is finding the right story, the hard part is knowing what to do with it. Whether it’s a book, a newspaper or magazine article, a documentary subject, or even if it’s the story of someone you’ve met or are related to, understanding how to get the rights and put the project into motion is paramount. To cover all your bases from the legal aspects to development to filming to distribution, you need someone who has been in the trenches time and time again. And we've got just the person, one of the most experienced independent film producers working today, to help you make sense of it all. Jim Young of Animus Films has created a successful career working in the true story space with films such as The Catcher Was a Spy (Paul Rudd) based off of the life of Moe Berg, Life of a King (Cuba Gooding Jr.) based off of the life of Eugene Brown, The Man Who Knew Infinity (Dev Patel) based off of the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan, Lovelace (Amanda Siefried) based off of the life of Linda Lovelace and the upcoming The People vs. Vegas Dave based off of controversial gambler Vegas Dave. Jim is a leading independent non-fiction producer, with almost two dozen films under his belt. And now he's bringing his extensive knowledge exclusively to the Stage 32 community. Jim will take you through the steps of acquiring the rights to a particular article, book or other printed material about, or the life rights of, a given person (or persons). From there he will cover writing and developing the script, getting buttoned up legally to avoid pitfalls in the pre-production and production phases, and help you navigate the process of releasing and distributing the film. He will provide real life case studies using some of his own films as examples to help you gain real world experience and make the process painless. PRAISE FOR JIM'S TEACHINGS: "Jim was an excellent educator. He really broke down the process of getting life rights in an easy to understand way and opened my eyes to some huge pitfalls I need to avoid along the way.
