As a movie actor Mario Mentrup has played main roles in highly awarded films, for Film and TV . Soon a theatrical release for THE ANIMALS a mockumentary/ Fiction movie will follow. As theatre actor Mentrup has worked with various directors, including international performances.

Since 2005 he directs his own films together with Volker Sattel CITY OF LIGHT (2005), THEY COME AT NIGHT(Docu, 2006), I DO ADORE (2007), THE EAGLE IS GONE (2010), DO THE OZ (music video) 2011

There is a body of musical work in bands and projects like KNOCHEN GIRL (1987-1995), PASADENA PROJEKT (2004-today) and recently as a solo act is doing music for film and theatre and on/off solo gigs.

Mario Mentrup is co-founder and was a co-publisher of the small publishing house FANTOME VERLAG (ex- Maas Media) based in Berlin

My Lonely Christmas in Berlin (2017)
Film Actor Mélanie is a French musician in her late 30's living as an expat in Berlin. Though she finds some success, she still struggles to make ends meet with her art and is uncertain about the security of her career. Lonely as she has never been, she starts to escape into fantasies, following an attractive indigenous man through the desert of Castaneda, and ends up back in reality on Christmas Eve with her mechanic, André. Film (Drama) Actor Carl Celler (CC) Culture Institute specializes in selling art projects to big companies: Carl Celler, the dynamic boss with an inherent melancholic drift towards failure, feels that his first project proves to be a difficult one. For the project, he invited a young elite group of artists and curators to Berlin to realize a project: videos, photos, campaigns, and art objects about a specific topic, namely brand logos and animals. The invited artists are furnished with a sufficient budget and insight into Berlin's arts milieu. Furthermore there are two male (anti-)models, Kai and Jork, arbitrarily chosen, non-styled, people from the street. Kai is over 30 and he confronts this world with nonchalance. He feels his late juvenile attitude is in anger and the ambition he encounters in CC takes him by surprise. Rena Yazka, one of the invited artists, catches is attention.
