About Stephen

Steve has several completed screenplays and TV streaming projects available for production. These include studio features (thrillers and dramas), indie features (comedies and quirky dramas), a 6-episode limited series (teen drama), a 3 season series (conspiracy thriller), and an unlimited series (high school drama). Steve’s plays SAVAGE WORLD, BREAK OF DAY and THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED have been published by Samuel French. Other plays include Sizzle Sizzle, Blue Kiss, The Kitchen Girl, Scattered Blossoms, Vincent in the Asylum, Van Gogh’s Zombie Movie, Bring Your Own, and The American Wife (with Ralph Pezzullo). His adaptation of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance was produced Off-Broadway by the Jewish Repertory Theatre, where it received 17 rave reviews and has been performed all over the world. He has written the book and lyrics for 4 Family-Friendly musicals - Charming, Young Forever (about Peter Pan), Isabella in Oz and The Buzz Snapshot Holiday Show.

Steve has had 13 books books published, including his memoir THE 13TH BOY, which was a bestseller on Amazon after being featured in People Magazine and The Huffington Post. His novel DEFINITELY MAYBE NOT received excellent reviews a year ago, with Kirkus Reviews calling it “Fast-paced, inventive and compulsively readable.” He has been the recipient of a Federal Poetry Grant. His articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times “Arts & Leisure” section, Village Voice and New Republic and American Theatre (among others), and he’s edited several volumes of monologues and scenes for Applause Books.

A graduate of Horace Mann H.S., Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University’s School of the Arts (MFA), Steve was the first literary manager for Primary Stages Company in New York City., and has taught writing workshops throughout NYC. See for more info.

Unique traits: I was the only journalist to meet with boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter in max prison after his reconviction. have taught writing workshops in New York City schools, especially Satellite schools. have also worked with the elderly, collecting oral histories. have had 12 books published. Have expertise in writing both fiction and nonfiction, writing character-based dialogue, writing for film, stage and print. Have adapted stories and novels for stage and screen.
