His screenplay IN THE MOOD is being produced by Fable Entertainment, Yuval Shrem directing,. Steve adapted the screenplay from his play of the same name.
Fable Entertainment also holds the rights to Steve's screenplays BLUE KISS (teen drama) and SIZZLE SIZZLE (comedic coming-of-age story). Yuval Shrem of Fable Ent has filmed Steve's play FUN WITH FREUD and plans to release it on Amazon Prime in late April.
He has been the Writer-in-Residence at the Ark Theatre Company in North Hollywood. Steve directed a filming of the stage version of his BLUE KISS, which will be available on the Ark Theatre website in March.
His plays SAVAGE WORLD, BREAK OF DAY and THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED have been published by Samuel French. Other plays include Sizzle Sizzle, Blue Kiss, The Kitchen Girl, Scattered Blossoms, FutureSex, The Shadow Man, Ghost Farm and The American Wife (with Ralph Pezzullo). His adaptation of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance was produced Off-Broadway by the Jewish Repertory Theatre, where it received 17 rave reviews and has been performed all over the world. He has written the book and lyrics for Charming, Young Forever, Isabella in Oz and The Buzz Snapshot Holiday Show.
Cune Press has published his memoirs THE 13TH BOY (featured in People Magazine and The Huffington Post) and BEST REVENGE: How the Theatre Saved My Life and Has Been Killing Me Ever Since, as well as his two books of poetry, Dreaming in the Maze of Love-Grief-Madness and Twisted Hipster. He has been the recipient of a Federal Poetry Grant. His articles and essays on Theater have appeared in The New York Times “Arts & Leisure” section, Village Voice and New Republic and American Theatre (among others), and he’s edited several volumes of monologues and scenes for Applause Books.
A graduate of Horace Mann H.S., Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University’s School of the Arts (MFA), Steve was the first literary manager for Primary Stages Company in New York City. He has written screenplay adaptations of his plays Blue Kiss and Sizzle Sizzle, and of his memoir The 13th Boy.
