But, I'm going to go with one that probably is not at the top of everyone's list: John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox in SCRUBS. In that role, he was able to run the gamut of sarcasm, humor, playfulness, and heavy drama...sometimes in the same episode. He truly gave what could have been a two-dimensional, antagonistic character and gave him layers. Just check out Season 3, Episode 14 ("My Screw Up") as an example.
Okay...I lied...I'm giving two.
That episode also featured Brendan Fraser, who is also quite an inspiration to keep going...especially when he seemed to disappear, then came back to receive tons of laurels from audiences and critics. Now he's back in the public consciousness.
Currently, THE BEAR. That show makes me miss acting so much. I keep thinking how fun that must have been to shoot. Some people think Jeremy Allen White is too intense and it's a turnoff, but to me it looks like the actors are enjoying themselves.
