What are some of the best books you've read about acting or filmmaking? Books are one of the easiest, most affordable ways to learn...and there are some GREAT books out there on acting! So let's not make any more excuses to not constantly be learning and growing, cause like Jim Rohn says, "It isn't what the book costs. It's what it will cost you if you don't read it." So let's get a list going! =) My Must-Read List: - "How to Stop Acting" by Harold Guskin - "Audition" by Michael Shurtleff - "A Star Is Found" by Janet Hirshenson and Jane Jenkins

I have read over 150 books on film-making and the one that stands above them all is "Directing Actors" by Judith Weston. There is incredible information on every page. I got my wife, who is also a filmmaker, to read it and she took a 4 day course with Judith Weston in New York.
Thanks Patrick! Wow, Joseph how do you even read that many books!? That sounds great, I'm surprised I haven't heard of that one before.

I read actor memoirs. It is very informative on how a star went from nobody to somebody.

Actor Memoirs...I like that idea! Wow Chip that would be so great to be able to study with Michael!
I know amazon has a fairly large selection of books.
Audition still remains the best. Every acting class in college and beyond, that was the book we read.
Books are like buffets... take what you like and apply it to your craft. For me, Michael Caine's "Acting In Film" is a great read.. with keen insights. - MO
