Animation : What to do next? by Kelvin Avon

What to do next?

I posted this in the Anything Goes lounge but maybe will get more traction here.

Question to everyone

I am completely new to TV/Film/Animation industry, having spent the last 25 years in the music business.. There really is not much crossover connections wise, trust me I have tried. Mainly Music supervisors at TV production studios and they cant help me.

I have full animation mockemntary IP developed, I already have a pilot episode done, full pitch deck, full character development, and a growing social media presence... issue is I am a one man show and I have no idea what I should do next. Do I look for representation? Do I enter loads of film festivals (just started doing that through FilmFreeWay.com), I have had amazing feedback from people I have shown it to in the entertainment business, even the record labels are keen. But as usual they want to see someone else jump first (especially as the IP will be driven through TV and social media)

Any and all advice hugely appreciated about what my next steps are/should be.

Thanks in advance

Ashley Renee Smith

Kelvin Avon With a completed pilot, full pitch deck, and character development already in place, you’re actually in a solid position to start having real conversations about taking the project to the next level.

Since you’re new to the film and TV space, I’d highly recommend reaching out to our Success Team at Stage 32. They specialize in helping creatives at any stage of development connect with the right executives, reps, and producers based on their goals and materials. You can email them directly at Success@Stage32.com and let them know a bit about your project and what you’re hoping to achieve. They’ll point you toward the most strategic next steps.

You might also consider checking out the Stage 32 Writer’s Room (it’s not just for writers!) it includes live pitch sessions, support, and executive sessions that could help you navigate the industry more efficiently.

Excited to see where this project goes!

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for the information, I will definitely check out the writers room and see how it goes. I will also reach out to your Success Team and see what they have to say as well. Very much appreciated.

I concur with Ashley Renee Smith The writer's room is a great place to nurture projects for the next stage of success.

Kelvin Avon thank you for sharing this, as I'm entering the same stage or have come across the same issue. Not too sure which direction to go and huge thank you to Ashley Renee Smith. I had no idea about the success team and what was possible with reaching out to them. Definitely going to have to utilize this resource.

If you can produce something and get it into festivals, that will help get exposure, which can lead to representation or pitches. Right now, in the Hollywood animation system, most companies are taking pitches but not buying projects, especially if they are not based on IP or have a built-in audience.

Kelvin Avon

Thank you Bob, that is what I am trying now. I have a pilot produced which I am now submitting to festivals. I am also Buidling the IP's IG Presence as social media is a big part of the the IP. So far so good, had a some positive feedback and just selected for it's first festival

There are common things in academic life, whether it is scientific or someone like me who wants to make an alliance in the animation world. Everyone should first notice you, then get to know you, then spread your name and after all this, they want you to be their permanent reference. That's why I recommend that you do your best to put yourself in the foreground right now. Because from this point on, every moment you show yourself will be an opportunity to present your ideas.
