NAMM this week?

Wondering how many of you will be at NAMM this year? If you don't know what NAMM is here is a link - It's basically the music industry's trade show for goods and services. https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2015 If you are going, please stop by the Big Fish Audio booth in Hall A and say "hi," we will be in the "Sonicsmith" jackets and shirts. Hopefully I can post a few of the cool things we find later in the week! Best, Sam

In my 'first life', I went every year to what was at the time the largest computer show in the US - Comdex - did it from 1982 to 2002 as a technology representative from Exxon. It was always the week before Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. At it's peak before the Internet crash and 9-11, it had over 2,600 vendors and 250,000+ attendees. Took us a full 5 days to cover the show / all the booths. And the evening vendor hospitality suites and parties were second to none. I remember back in 1996, we went to the Microsoft announcement for its mobile/embedded operating system (Windows CE I believe it was called). Bill Gates did the presentation on stage at Treasure Island. And then when he finished he told us to sit back and watch a show. I had no idea what would happen next. I ended up seeing "Mystere" - my first Cirque Du Soleil show which was the only Cirque show in Vegas at that time. Bill Gates paid for the whole theater. Comdex is long gone and has not really been replaced but in its place we have an even larger show - in Las Vegas first week in January the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This is what shows are all about - you walk the aisles, get to watch a lot of demos and ask questions of the vendors. You get a feel for what you want to follow up on and also a feel for the 'trends'. Many things that seem really 'cool' will never make it in the market and the ones you really want always seem to be months away from actual delivery. You'll get to make contacts with both vendors and other 'users'. You'll come home invigorated, and you will get bombarded by phone and email by vendors with follow ups.
