July Week 2 Challenge: Filmmaking in NJ, USA (And beyond!)

Hello Everyone! TGIF!

Writing to you from the NJ/NYC area of the US! So filmmaking is really making a comeback in NJ! Once the original Hollywood (Not too many people know this, but before there was Hollywood, CA, there was Fort Lee, NJ. Fort Lee was considered the filmmaking mecca, and one of the first feature films, "The Great Train Robbery," was filmed in Newark; I believe.)

Anywho, there have been a ton of great tax incentives recently dolled out in the Garden State, which has been attracting more filmmakers. Filmmakers outside of the state even recommended NJ.

However, instead of being too boastful about my home state, it's also important to recognize benefits of filmmaking in other locations. Not just domestically, but internationally. Different voices lend to better stories. And when different voices come together, they can make something beautiful, unique, and though-provoking!

I recently met an incredibly talented filmmaker from Norway at the Beverly Hills Film Festival (He won the "Best Short Award" and it was much deserved!) To hear his thoughts on filmmaking, feel free to check out our interview (Don't worry, it's less than 30 minutes LOL.)

Hi, Jackie Letkowski. I didn't know NJ was the original Hollywood. Glad it's making a comeback! I've been through NJ once. I'd like to visit NJ one day, and I'd like to write a script that takes place there.

Jackie Letkowski

Maurice Vaughan Let me know if you're in the Garden State! It's also the state where you can throw a rock and hit an Italian! (In my case, a "half-Italian".)

Maurice Vaughan

Haha Ok, I will, Jackie Letkowski. I'm going to check out the interview as soon as I can.

I just watched the interview, Jackie Letkowski. It's a great interview for filmmakers, writers, etc. to watch. Filip said the first thing he notices when watching a movie for the first time is the tone. Tone is one of the first things I notice when watching a movie for the first time, and it's one of the things I spend a lot of time on when I outline and write a script.
