what's crazy is how Scorsese is one of the most prolific documentarians of his generation but never gets much credit for it. he makes such average everyday stories come alive with vivid characters full of wild tales. would rec watching pretty much any of his docs
Nick Phillips likewise. i also love American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince. it's all vibes and shooting the shit over the course of an hour. And even includes a scene of a younger Marty wrestling on a couch in his living room. then his Pretend It's a City docuseries is just a fascinating look into the mind of the humorist raconteur Fran Lebowitz who is so full of witticisms it's a delight to watch

Interesting. As a big fan of The Aviator, it hurts to see it so far down on the list.
