Where do you buy props, costumes, and things for your movies, shows, vertical series, etc.? Do you make your own props, costumes, and things? Or do you shop and make?
Maurice Vaughan Depends on the props needed. If historical accuracy is needed, then there are several props houses here, and I have used History For Hire in North Hollywood several times. Weapons, functioning and otherwise, from an armorer I know (unless I own them myself). Wardrobe we just buy, or rent from one of the costume/wardrobe suppliers. If it's a specific custom thing then of course we need to have a costumer create it, or a prop master create it.
Great ideas, Shadow Dragu-Mihai! Thanks for sharing them. I didn't even think about props houses for historically accurate props. What about pawn shops for some props and things?
Maurice Vaughan Pawn shops, maybe but would be very hit and miss and expensive. Thrift shops, Goodwill, second hand stores are always places to look for older clothing and props, sometimes for even recent clothes.
