WOW! what ever happened to "Live long & PROSPER"? Hello!!

David E. Gates

It reminds me of an alleged Metallica incident where they apparently had sent a letter to a covers band that they were to cease and desist playing ANY covers of Metallica songs in their live sets. It was ridiculous and somewhat hypocritical given the number of times Metallica covered other songs (Thin Lizzy, Diamond Head and many others some of which appear on their latest album!) I can see the side of objections though - if I'd spent a lot of time and effort and even money on creating something, having someone come along and copy it and my not receive any recognition or compensation for my original creation, I would be a little irked. It is a ridiculous suggestion that a fan film will "interrupt other revenue streams" of Paramount etc. though.
