Introduce Yourself : First Novel by Geoff Hall

Geoff Hall

First Novel

Hi,

What am I working on, at the moment?

I’m working with my Publisher and Designer, for the release of my first novel, a supernatural political horror story. Consider it “1984” with bestial demons and Vampire Priests.

Whilst I work on this, and the design of the website, I’ve left working on the film, for which we are seeking a Producer with a passion for genre-bending stories. I think the release of the novel is really important and this is the project with traction at the moment.

I’ll keep you all posted on the further developments and the twists and turns it brings.

That sounds amazing! I would read that! I am a Horror writer and love politics. Can't wait to read!

Geoff Hall

Thanks Carmen! I appreciate your encouragement. I will post something on Stage32, when we get nearer to the day. We are looking to set up what we are loosely calling a street team, to help promote the novel. More on that, later.

Stay safe and be well.

You as well!

Geoff! Your bio is intense! Amazing! Are you in the Writer's Room yet? (red button top right). I want you to join. I know the time zone thing is difficult but it's worth it. There's a couple otherr brits. Do you know Jason Mirch yet? He's director of script services, and will help connect you with executives for pitching or other script services that are the best fit for your work. There is a LOT to pursue on this platform! Can't wait to learn more about your spiritual journeys!

Geoff Hall

Thank you Sarah Gabrielle Baron Aray Brown Adam Sturkenboom for your encouragement. Sarah! Yes intense and I think that always and unreservedly comes out in the things I write.

I love genre-bending and love the word genre-bending too. I tried script services last year. I was connected with an LA producer with my script, “Seeing Rachel”, but whilst we had a similar ‘vision’ about telling stories about sex trafficking, and other social concerns; there just wasn’t a connection spiritually, cinematically or I guess we’d call it aesthetically. I was really disappointed and said to Jason that I was finding it difficult to find a producer that ‘got it’. It being that I had no wish to sensationalise the issues I was writing about in Seeing Rachel, but that I was in search for a language to communicate the psychological aspects of storytelling; that the shock was in the imagination of the viewer.

What had happened since then, was a number of health-related problems which haven’t gone away because of the pressures on healthcare with the pandemic. I won’t go into details here.

On top of this, in November of 2020, we had to drive up to the North East of England to collect my Mum, aged 90(!), and bring her back to Bristol to take care of her. I am now her carer. She’s still with us. Its a very challenging time!
