Introduce Yourself : Greetings and Salutations! by Jim Roddy

Jim Roddy

Greetings and Salutations!

As I approach the Third Act of my life (retiring at the end of July,) I want to become more dedicated to writing screenplays. I had my first idea for a script about fifteen years ago, but had no idea of how to write. After reading a number of books, and much research, I "finished" it in three years. Yes, I'm still learning, especially the rewriting process. I have written five feature-length scripts and a few shorts. Seeing STAGE32 on Facebook, I thought it would be good to join, meet people and learn more about the craft. Thanks for allowing me to join.

Welcome, Jim! Great to have you here. It's a great community to be a part of.

Hey, Jim Roddy! Great to meet you, and welcome to the community! That's actually quite common - most screenwriters have had a previous career before switching over (I imagine because it gives them something to write about).

I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely check out the other lounges to meet like-minded creatives as well: https://www.stage32.com/lounge

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!
