Pleased to introduce myself to you all.
I'm a UK-based writer of dark fiction. My debut novel, 'The Harvest', was published by a US indie press in 2025 (screen rights unencumbered), my second, found footage meta-horror, 'The House That Screamed', is out in June.
My third novel is released in 2027, a fourth is currently on submission.
Very pleased to be a part of this creative community! Feel free to connect, of course.

Hi, Alex Hunter. Glad to see you at Introduce Yourself Weekend. Hope you're doing great! Congratulations! Do you think your novels would be better as movies or shows?

Maurice Vaughan that’s such an interesting question. I was approached by a producer who’d read The Harvest and was interested in developing a multi-season show using the characters, sadly she couldn’t get the finance together. The House That Screamed I think would work well as a picture, not least as the story, in part, is how movies mythologize real life experiences, so there’d be a movie within the movie, potentially!

A found footage meta horror sounds so cool and of the moment. Great to see you here on IYW, Alex Hunter!

Congratulations, Alex Hunter! Hope you get more interest and your novels get made into movies/shows! I'm with Sam. A Found Footage Meta-Horror sounds so cool and of the moment. Found Footage is one of the scariest genres in my opinion.

Welcome to Stage 32! Great to have another dark fiction voice here. The Harvest and The House That Screamed both sound like strong concept driven horror, I’d love to hear more about how you approached structure and tension in The Harvest. Always good to connect with writers building across both page and screen.

Congrats on the publishing! I love reading horror, so I'll keep an eye out for it. Will it be available in book stores in the USA?

That is a creepy cover and I’m here for it! What’s it about?

Amanda Toney thank you! Here's the back cover blurb:
Something is coming for the children.
Tim Waverly, a young teacher, escapes London’s spiralling housing costs by becoming a live-in caretaker at an abandoned orphanage. But his arrival triggers a series of frightening events.
An ancient evil has awakened. A new Harvest has begun.
As Tim and those around him are engulfed in a dark nightmare, he is forced to confront his deepest fears in order to save countless innocent lives.

Sam Sokolow thanks! I hope people enjoy it. I wanted to write something like The Amityville Horror for the digital era.
What happens when a group of podcasters (The Bloody Ghouls) get to stay in America's most famous haunted house?
Nothing good!

Maurice Vaughan a screen adaptation would be very cool. It'd be interesting to see how a screenwriter would approach it!

Beckham B David The Harvest has a pretty standard horror cadence, and escalates as it goes on. The House That Screamed is more ambitious in that parts of the story come from recordings, newspaper articles etc, which is a new approach for me!

I would stick close to the novel when adapting the novel and add new things if the author approved, Alex Hunter. That's what I did when I adapted three novels into screenplays.

Maurice Vaughan I've always taken the view that the screenwriter can do what they think best, I kind of like the idea I can hand it over!

Congratulations on The Harvest and the upcoming releases. The fact that screen rights are unencumbered on The Harvest suggests you're already thinking about film/TV potential, which is smart. :)
If you're looking to develop it for screen, we have adaptation services with executives and screenwriters who specialize in turning novels into screenplays. Found footage meta-horror and dark fiction are both strong genres right now, especially with executives looking for elevated horror concepts.
When you're ready to explore adaptation or pitch the IP to producers, reach out to success@stage32.com and we can point you toward the right resources.
Welcome to the community.

Maurice Vaughan I did see that. I'm more than happy for someone else to take it on, I'd only adapt it myself if I had someone to partner with.

Geoffroy Faugerolas thanks! I am starting to think about screen adaptation. The Harvest had some interest from an established producer, but she couldn't raise the finance for the multi season arc she and the screenwriter had in mind, which was a shame.

Alex Hunter I’m finding it hard going at the moment, Alex. Poor health and an investor that dropped out of our human trafficking film. There’s a word for it, but not here!
So whereabouts are you based?
