Greetings from Canada. I write Action/Adventure and Crime/Noir, usually from the perspective of marginalized groups. My quest to write scripts began long before the Internet made it possible to write anywhere. It required moving to Hollywood. So I bought a bus ticket and hit LA. There I learned to write screenplays while exploring LA's underbelly where the real stories lie. I'm back in Canada but still write about L.A. from a historical angle. A gay cop in 1933 LA who must choose between love and normalcy. An LAPD cop tries to right the wrongs of a broken justice system by becoming a vigilante, set against the backdrop of the 1992 riots. A post-Civil War transgender girl fights for her very existence.

Great to meet you, Pat Brown, and welcome to the community! Wow, congrats on your pilgrimage to LA, that's awesome! Where are you at with your scripts? Are you looking for feedback or are you ready to start pitching them?
You may have already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely check out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read!
Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my blog post on how to get the most out of the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Oh dammm, pretty goood story cop. Cool :)
Hi from the West Coast, Pat! Your stories sound compelling.
Thanks, I'm especially attached to Chameleon right now. It's L.A. Confidential (one of my favorite movies) meets Brokeback Mountain (a powerful movie, too sad to be a favorite). A closeted cop in1933 L.A., straddles two worlds that couldn't be more disparate, trying to protect his new lover from the very cops he works with.
I'm always happy for feedback. I'm also more than willing to give feedback. The script is up for an award at a local film festival. I find out if I win on Sunday, Oct. 24th. Fingers crossed.
Hey, Pat. What part of Canada you from?
I'm in London, Ontario.
Hi Pat - so I noticed your those being a horse person myself.
