Introduce Yourself : Iyw by Brandy Camille

Iyw

Can't believe we only have two more of these before 2026 and I make a year and a half in my role on the Member Help team here at Stage 32 (I was brought on to the team in June of 2024). My post this month is late (yikes) but it was mainly because I had two papers due tonight for school, both of which are done, which means I can wipe the sweat from my brow and make room for the new sweat of a great work week ahead. I've recently made an educational pivot and I've started courses to get my BS in Business Administration, with an eventual goal to get my doctorate degree. I definitely plan on tapping in with some of our Education content to learn more about applying my business acumen to produce and finance films.

A coupe of reflections on writing that I thought of while working on my homework tonight:

RB is a great leader to learn from (Coffe and Content comes out on Sundays and it's a great read!), and one thing I learned from him is that confidence is much easier to come by where there's consistency and discipline to start with. Finals can be a daunting time, especially when classes are only 8 weeks at a time, like mine. But I was consistent with reviewing and applying feedback,, kept what I thought I needed and threw out what I didn't, and I stayed consistent, especially on the days that it was really difficult to do so.

The other thought I had was sometimes editing can be harder than coming up with the original idea and content. My courses were structured such that we actually started working on the finals on day one and the final projects were just compilations and editing, which took way longer than it did for me to write any of the original content. But I did a lot of walking away from my laptop to take my mind off of things for clarity. Feel free to comment if any of you have ever had to do that when editing any creative writing.

Hi, Brandy Camille. Congratulations on making the educational pivot and finishing the papers! I'm rooting for you to reach your goal!

"The other thought I had was sometimes editing can be harder than coming up with the original idea and content." You're right. That's like when I rewrite old scripts. It's easier to write new scripts. I walk away from my laptop to take my mind off things for clarity a lot.

So true! And it's hard not to want to fix all of the things but if you do that, then you'd never finish. I just folded laundry and tidied up in my room lol
