Introduce Yourself : New In The Room by Alisha Mull

Alisha Mull

New In The Room

Hi everyone,

I'm Alisha, a writer and creator with a love for layered storytelling and character-driven worlds. Lately I've been focused on developing a series, but I'm trying not to talk about it like a proud parent every chance I get.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually painting or deep into a film or show I've probably rewatched a hundred times.

Happy to be here and looking forward to learning and connecting with you all.

Leonardo Ramirez

Hi Alisha Mull - welcome to Stage 32! My wife and I love to rewatch movies. I think there's a calm to it that helps us to let go of the stresses of the week.

Alisha Mull, welcome to Stage 32! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here on the platform. It’s great to meet you, and I love how you describe your connection to storytelling, especially that “proud parent” feeling about your series. That usually means you’re building something really meaningful.

As you start connecting here, I’d encourage you to also spend time in the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) and the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing). Those are great spaces to build relationships, learn more about the industry side, and share about the films and shows that are inspiring you.

You mentioned being deep into things you rewatch over and over, what are you watching right now that you can’t stop thinking about?

Hi Leonardo Ramirez. Thank you for the warm welcome. My series leans into drama, fantasy, and sci-fi, with a bit of thriller woven in. Thank you for the links, I'll definitely will check them out.

Alisha Mull

Thank you Ashley Renée Smith, I really appreciate that.

And yes, that "proud parent" feeling is very real.

Right now, one of the shows that really stuck with me is Lovecraft Country. I loved how it blended genre with deeper themes and still stayed rooted in the characters. It's one of those stories that lingers with you and makes you think beyond the surface.

Looking forward to connecting more here.

Alisha Mull

@Laura Hammer Thank you. That deep investment in the characters and the world is honestly what pulls me in the most as a viewer, so it naturally shows up in how I write as well.

I'll definitely take a look at the Writer's Room. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Alisha,

Love this, especially the proud parent line, very relatable! Nice to e-meet you :)

I love to paint too. What do you like to paint with, and what kinds of things do you usually create?

Great to have you here and looking forward to seeing what you’re working on!

Alisha Mull

Laquan Copeland Thank you, I really appreciate that. I'm excited to keep building and sharing more as it develops. Glad to be here.

Sydney S Hey Sydney, nice to meet you too. I love that you paint as well. I work mostly with acrylics, especially metallics, and I'm drawn to more symbolic, layered pieces. A lot of feminine energy, nature elements, and storytelling through visuals.

What about you? What kind of things do you like to paint?
