Hi! I'm Liz - I'm new here.
I'm a novelist and screenwriter by night (and weekend) and federal employee by day. I wrote my first screenplay during the furlough (I made screenplay writing my job, so I had a purpose each day) and started two more. I don't know about you, but when I get an idea, I need to start writing. Though sometimes I have too many ideas - and then I'm like, "Liz, just finish something."
Since it's the holiday season I decided to write romantic comedy for Christmas (think Hallmark). Writing is very fun - finding someone who I can pitch my screenplay - well, I know you know, not so fun. I was hoping I could type "agents seeking heartwarming Christmas screenplays" in Google and get a response - well...not so much. BUT it did lead me to The Writers' Room at Stage 32 and the OWA that happened to be looking for heartwarming Christmas movies - pretty perfect.
Looking forward to making connections.
Cheers!
Liz :)

Reach out to the Success Team at success@stage32.com. Geoff and his team will give you some producers, executives, reps, etc. to pitch your Christmas Rom-Com to.
And you could post your script on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

Hi Maurice Vaughan thank you so much for all the tips! Much appreciated! Congratulation on your scripts being sold - that is really great. Thanks for the instructions on how to add the logline and script (just registered the script with the LOC). Have a great night! Liz :)

Welcome, Liz! I can totally relate to that, when I get an idea I have to write it down right away. I was at work this weekend and thought of an idea for a joke and had to write it down before I forgot about it. Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. I'll see a headline on a magazine that could be misconstrued and I'll make a joke about that or sometimes when I'm asking a customer if they need help finding something, they'll say something along the lines of how they're "looking for toys to keep their kids quiet". Then my mind starts turning and thinking about how that could be comedic. I've been on bike rides where I'll overhear people's conversations and a sentence they say will inspire me to write a song. Inspiration can truly come from anywhere.
Christmas comedies are awesome! I love watching the Christmas movies on WTN every year. Best of luck in getting your Christmas movie made!

Welcome to Stage 32 Liz Costanzo . Although I'm an audio guy, I highly recommend checking out the Writers Room, had the opportunity to be involved in the chats last November and it helped me a lot. Everyone was kind and provided a lot of resources for me to kick start my journey (I write little scripts for my personal vlogs).

Haley Mary I am so with you - sometimes I have an idea and forget it (I do a lot of thinking when I am runishing (it's more like a jog) but I get home and it's gone - so frustrating. Love that you get ideas from conversations - very authentic.

My writing partner and I just started a rom-com Christmas script. Only a few acts along, but we're having a fun time with it. Good luck with yours!

It's 6am in England, and I read that as a 'feral employee' which, funnily enough, describes me... haha! Good luck with your writing!

Liz, that is incredibly frustrating when you can't remember an idea. My short term memory is bad, so if I don't write something down right away, it's just lost to the void. During the summer when I was cycling, I'd often make notes on my phone so that I could look at the title or line when I got home, so I'd remember what I wanted to write.

Welcome!! Love that you turned to writing, especially that Hallmark space. It's an area of the marketplace that tends to be more receptive to new writers breaking in.
